Blepharoplasty
Upper eyelid surgery is performed by removing excess skin and/or fat from the upper lid resulting in a fresher, more youthful appearing eye. The resulting scar is hidden in the natural upper eyelid crease. This procedure is often performed under local anesthetic with surgery time being approximately 1.5 hours.
Lower eyelid surgery is performed by removing excess skin and/or lower eyelid fat to reduce bulging, bagging lower lids. This procedure typically takes 2.5 hours and the patient requires a general anesthetic.
After the procedure
Post-operatively there will be bruising and swelling. Patients can typically return to work in 2 weeks. Possible complications include infection, asymmetry, hematoma, scleral show, dry eyes, and visible scar.
