Inverted, asymmetric or large nipples and areolas can be surgically corrected. This is done through a variety of techniques performed by Dr. Watts in her office. This involves reducing the size of the areola on one or both sides with a resultant scar around the areola.
Similarly, larger nipples can be reduced in size with minimal scarring. Inverted nipples can be corrected through a small 5mm incision with minimal scarring. These procedures are performed under local anesthetic.
After the procedure
There is minimal recovery time and patients can return to work the next day. Postoperative scar care is provided by Dr. Watts and her team to ensure you have the best aesthetic result.
Possible complications
Possible complications include scarring, asymmetry, recurrence, changes in nipple sensation, nipple necrosis, and reduction in ability to breastfeed. These will be discussed in depth by Dr. Watts during your consultation.
