Breast augmentation is a valuable procedure for any patient who wants to add volume to enhance the size of her breasts. Likewise, a breast lift is ideal for anyone who wants their sagging breasts to sit in a higher position on the chest. While some patients benefit entirely from one procedure or the other, there are also those who will see the best results from a combined augmentation and lift. The Vancouver area’s Dr. Robyn Watts offers this paired augmentation and mastopexy, which can address multiple cosmetic concerns in a single procedure.
Dr. Watts always works to help her patients achieve the unique look they want, which is why she emphasizes the importance of a thorough consultation before making any decisions—whether about an augmentation and lift or something else. This meeting allows her to assess your figure and goals, then help you decide on the most effective solution.
Dr. Robyn Watts is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in breast reconstruction, cosmetic breast surgery, and body contouring. Trained in Canada and the U.S., she leads plastic surgery at Richmond Hospital, practices at Cambie Surgical Centre, teaches at UBC, and is known for meticulous technique, compassion, and natural results.
Patients who want to address multiple aspects of their breasts—including size, shape, and position—can benefit most from the combined effect of an augmentation and lift. Most frequently, the ideal patients are those whose breasts have changed due to the effects (and after-effects) of pregnancy or as a result of weight loss.
Relatively rapid changes in weight can lead to a look of upper pole flatness (deflation) and ptosis (sagging, with the nipple in a low position). An augmentation alone would not address the nipple problem, while a lift by itself would not correct the flatness.

Dr. Watts performs augmentation and lift surgeries at a private surgery center with the patient under general anesthesia.
She will first make an incision around the nipple (periareolar), around the nipple and down in a vertical line (lollipop), or around the nipple, down in a vertical line, and then horizontally out to either side (anchor). The specific incision chosen for the augmentation and lift will depend primarily on the severity of the sagging.
No matter the incision shape, Dr. Watts will use it to access the internal structure of the breast, removing tissue as necessary in order to sculpt and position the breast. She will remove skin to tighten the breast and help it sit higher. The incisions chosen for the augmentation and lift also allow Dr. Watts to insert implants, either below the glandular tissue but above the chest muscle (subglandular/subfascial) or below the muscle itself (submuscular).
With the implants inserted, skin excised, and the nipple repositioned to the center of the breast mound rather than the lower portion, Dr. Watts will close the incisions, completing the augmentation and lift surgery.
The entire augmentation and lift process takes about two to three hours. Be sure to have someone who can drive you home once the surgery is complete, as there is no need for an overnight stay.
Plan to rest and recuperate away from work and routine daily activities for about two weeks. You should also avoid exercise and lifting heavy objects for two weeks. Upper body workouts can resume about six to eight weeks after the augmentation and lift surgery.
Dr. Watts cares about every aspect and detail of the procedure and your results, so she will provide instructions on post-treatment guidelines, including bra choice and scar treatment.
A combined augmentation and lift surgery can accomplish a lot, but some patients want to pair the benefits of a lift with a reduction in volume instead of an increase. A breast reduction is ideal for this, as the procedure helps to reduce the unwanted issues related to excessively large breasts, including sagging, tension, chafing, and more.
Many patients choosing breast surgery also have other aspects of their appearance they would like to address, whether because of the results of weight loss, the effects of post-pregnancy life, or the matter of aging and gravity teaming up to shift body contours. A tummy tuck is designed to address sagging on the belly, while an arm lift (brachioplasty) focuses on lax tissue on the upper arms. A lower body lift or upper body lift combines a range of procedures and techniques to create a slimmer, tighter, and more proportional look that doesn’t focus on just one specific feature.
Dr. Robyn Watts and her team are ready to help you decide which procedure or combination of procedures would be best for you. Start with a consultation and see where the possibilities lead.
